A rare opportunity to experience some of the most iconic trumpet concertos, spanning from the Baroque to the Classical period. This program showcases the rich nuances of the trumpet, culminating in the vibrant Haffner Symphony by Mozart. The evening begins with Giuseppe Tartini’s Trumpet Concerto in D Major, a Baroque gem that highlights the intricate melodies and harmonies of the period. Next is Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major, a landmark work of Classical music written for the renowned trumpeter Anton Weidinger. This concerto fully exploits the potential of the newly invented keyed trumpet, combining virtuosity with expressive depth. Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D Major, the famous Haffner Symphony, brings energy and elegance to the concert. From the lively opening to the brilliant finale, the Haffner showcases Mozart’s signature style and perfect craftsmanship. The program closes with Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E Major, also composed for Weidinger. Known for its technical brilliance and melodic beauty, this concerto remains a cornerstone of the trumpet repertoire.
